online retailers
is what some of the site sponsors here not considered online retailing....i have seen a few guys soliciting and selling products on here when im pretty sure that the manufacturers prohibit this type of selling....if i am mistaken please correct me

Of course, there's lawyers, then the rest of us. If I were a manufacturer I'd understand that every unit the vendor sells came from my factory somehow, plus its more brand exposure, but lawyers have to eat too.

In the canadian market pretty much everthing is sold to a canadian distributor, so the rules pretty quickly go out the window. Since the parent company has no rights in canada because they sold said rights to the local distributors and the local distributors don't care to go through the hassles of taking legal action against the "unauthorized" sales so there's alot of leeway for vendors to break the rules.

so are you saying that some vendors on this site are selling poducts online here although its against many of their dealer agreements..... and that just because we live in canada they get away with it.....shouldnt we then be encouraging interested purchasers to buy from online retailers from the united states becuase they will save money, its breaking the rules either way so why shouldnt we encourage them to save a few dollars in these hard economic times....i mean thats the responsible thing to do isnt it.......

if there actually were hard economic times happening I'd agree. Unless you are directly affected (ie laid off) it's business as usual for the 94% of us that still have jobs. And yes there are quite a few dealers that break their sales agreements to make extra money it happens.

so if i unserstand right sikk......if its all done in the name of profit...then thats alright.....does it not make them as bad as the american online retailers selling the same for less.....and is it not these same people that complain about them doing it......something seems kinda hypocritical about that wouldnt you say

the american online guys are selling for less because they pay alot less for their product. In canada just about everything goes through a middle man before getting to the shops (aka the distributor) So it's costs dealers and even online specific retailers more to buy their product, which in turn makes it very hard to compete with the US for pricing.
Alpine canada just 3 years ago were strong advocates to keep their products out of big stores and no online sales etc. etc... now they supply crutchfield canada, and are available at FS.....
Eclipse used to have the same policies as well and now that brand is d out to the max. First thing to go as well when this happens is build quality. Sell more units, but big stoes will only buy at a certain price point, so start skimping on parts and it goes on from there...but that's a bit O/T.
I been into car audio since 98 and been installing selling and managing since 02. It's a much tougher game for canadian dealers. Here's a fun fact for you. shops in the US can sell JL audio at a pretty good profit margin..for what us canadian dealers buy JL audio parts for. It's WAY cheaper to find a nearby US wholesaler.. drive there, pick up the JL stuff, pay taxes and duty at the border, than it is to buy from the distributor.
