There are lots of beautiful decks with MD/CD from Japan (web page). I don't see them much here - only a few on ebay.
SQ of MD's?

thanks

Just as good as cd's. I use MD's alot for transporting recordings of concerts i've done.. They're just better protected than a cd with the plastic casing. The media is more expensive than cd's though, and the copying levy is also higher.

I am a big MD fan. I have an MD walkman and since I got it, I have not touched my discman. They are so much more useful and verastile I find.

The MD format is pretty decent if you are talking about recording in 1:1 time in analog->digital... however if you are talking about the LP2 ATRAC3 compression that doesn't even compare to CDDA. I have a Sony MD walkman and if I had to choose again I'd probably go with a HD MP3 player due to the faster transfer rates and better sound quality (depends on the source but all my MP3s I get at 192kbps VBR LAME 3.89 encoded or better).
