Opinions on Nak headunits?

Well if its any consilation the new distributor (2-3Years) has a 2 year over the counter exchange. New piece no down time.

when i first serviced my first nak i woundered what all the hype was all about
until i seen the piece of plastic junk jvc cd mechanism
and that pretty much determined what i though of them
exspensive radio's with lots of hype with junk inside
if you like cheap plastic cd mechs go for it

Well dont know what Nak you had but mine had a metal cd load mech. And actually its the other companies with all the hyped up junk. Unless you call a 24Bit d/a converter junk. If they were all hype and lots of junk then they would not be one of the most popular HU for SQ systems. Two decks come to mind when someone says SQ that Nak and Eclipse. IMO

Where I used to be an installer we sold Nak`s and they are great sound quailty decks, call steve at SmartAss audio and he will best explain the quailty and features of these great machines

it was a md 45 and the 24bit da is an ic and has nothing to do with the physical parts
they use a jvc cd mech and im telling you its made from cpc cheap plastic crap
maybe a metal plate in the top but the rests plastic

Did you notice a problem with the sound or handling of the discs as a result? If your only problem was that it said JVC on it, then thats nothing. I would be interested though if the plastic mechanism caused problems with sound or disc handling.

I would be more concerned if the DAC said JVC on it though
