OPTIMA , Electrical questions ...
#1
Just got a blue top optioma deep cycle .
What do I do with now ? The car is a 2001 Golf with a 90 amp bosch alternator and stock battery .
Do I just run the two batteries in parallel and hope for the best or are there other precaucions I need to take . I'd like to elaborate on this issue but lack the electrical terminology and charging/discharging knowledge etc ... so I am hoping someone will lead or point me in the right directions about what needs , can and should be done for opitmal battery and audio system prefromance . I also need to mentioned that 3 caps will join or atleast one 15 farad If need is there . Total watts of the system is ca. 2000 watts rms peak .

isolators are 1 way to do it, the better way is to use a solonoid as isolators will usually lower you voltage around 1 volt and there is no loss with a solonoid, scosche makes a great one ive used many times, i believe the part # is a pmbc200, this solonoid can be ran through the ingnition or off a switch, ie you can link both batteries with a switch, or so when the car is running both batteries will charge and will separate when the car isnt running

isolators are pure evil...................run from them.............
Solonoids are the way to go, the Scosche/EFX one is good, PAC makes a good one and you can get them also from any place that sells Cole Hersey products, ask for a CONSTANT duty solonoid, most people will just give you a starter solonoid which will burn out right away.
Always tie the trigger off the ignition of the car so that the 2 batteries are only connected when the key is turned on all the way or when the car is running.

Thanks a bunch boys ! I had my solenoids replaced on my turbo so slightly familiar with the term . Seems like a quick fix although I will need to figure out about tying the remote to a switch . Any identifying names on a good switch or a simple on/off style ?
cheers and thanks for all input .
P.S If any fisherman read this Rice Lake is pretty productive for good Largies now . 3 people nearly taken their limit fishing 6.00-9.30 pm .
Weather was fantastic and the 36 of brew quickly dissipated .
