just for kicks awhile ago I ran 450rms into a 300peak 10inch clarion sub that must be 10 years old (it definitely looks ancient) it bottoms out like crazy but all I can manage is melting off the tinsel leads... so a few days ago I pryed off the dust cap and soldered in some new leads, epoxyed the cap back on and gave it the 450 again.. so far it has held (to my suprise) just can't seem to fry that voicecoil... anyone else with some frankenspeaker stories?

I took a 350W rms Max Caliber and force feed it 700W rms for 9 months from a Kove ZX1000AX amp. It lived!

If you want to see speakers being pushed to the limits and fried, visit realmofexcursion.com , check out their video section and click on a brand name...
You'll definately see things like speakers being powered by 120volt outlets and stuff like that. Plus there are also some pretty cool footage speaker performance...

ONE JL 10W6 with already popped off dust cover,
ONE extention cord, cut off at the end,
JL + Cord + wall outlet = 30 seconds of life until it sparked and melted.

Feeling was joyus !!!
