Hello,
i just finished the sanding on my custom door pannels (holding morel 8").
the last sandpaper used was 320 grit.

I want to paint it black to match my interior (a flat black vinyl type, common to nissans).
what kind of paint would go on nicely and take a rugged appearence? the finish is very smooth right now. i don't want the frekle paint crap...
've heard of some sort of PPG but don't know specifics... any hints out there?

lmk,
Marco

Stick with a gun not a paint can.

Use black car paint same stuff used on exterior, put on 3 thin coats just enough to cover the previous coat, sanding with 1200 grit wet in between each coat, then if you want gloss put on a clear coat.

Depeding on the size the gun you may want to reduce the paint up to 50%.

if i don't put gloss, will it be a flat paint?
is there nothing that will create a rugged texture?

You can get some texture paint. It is really neat ****. When you put in on it will look just like vinyl. I think they have some at selectproducts.com. It looks AWSOME or instead of painting cover them in vinyl.

Cool

been painting a lot of interiors for customers this year, and depending on your base material you may want to look at endura. only because it is more 'forgiving' if your not perfect with the gun, and it is more flexible to prevent cracking if your pods are really rigid. check with your paint supplier, but i was told not wet sand it, but i did and was real happy with the result. make sure you give it at least clear 3 coats with lots of drying time in between. the last coat should be very light.

that SEM sounds like it bang on!
i don't want gloss, but not totally flat black either... where can i get it?

i don't want to use clear coat because it will mak the panels stand out too much... won't look stock at all.

what is this endura exactly?
thanks!
