Panasonic VD7001U in dash DVD Help!!

Just purchased a refurbished unit from a local store's boxing week sale (no remote, no manual.) Have been bench testing the unit in my garage prior to instalation. When I hook up the power and ground wires, the unit powers up...the Open/.close button lights, as well as the Mode (power) button. Then I press the open button the unit beeps, and opens as normal. The funny part is the display does not turn on. It loads and ejects disks, but does not play. I press the power button, touch the screen, and still nothing. Am I missing something?

It seems to me that if the unit was cooked it would not open, and the lights would not turn on, and it would not load and eject disks.

Any help would be apreciated, I am stuck!

This unit has a sensor for when driving! If I am not mistaken it is the pink wire needs to be grounded(ebrake wire) Try this while you are benching. This is there for your ebrake wire in your vehicle as it is illegal to watch while driving!!

ebrake

I have done this, still no picture. From the operating manual I belive that the display turns on, you just can't watch DVD's without the ebrake wire grounded.
