Just a thought from a consumer and competitor...you'd be better to spend that 50 grand supporting a competitor or 2 who can build you a demo car that will get featured in those magazines for free... better publicity, AND you have the bonus of your sponsored car being able to appear at shows so people can see and hear your product.

^ My thoughts exactly.. Ohhhh heyyy, you know what would get a lot of attention?

Something different...

Something you for sure don't see everyday...

Something that people are fascinated by...

Something like a HEARSE...

or something... :D

Did you see last months PASMAG? Cover car was a Macrom car ;) He should be in our booth @ CES as well.

You virtually get 0 return on a display car. Most cars these days that are featured in most magazines are on a basis of advertising( just cause you have a sweet ride doesn’t even get you close to the rags)

Pay to play guys, hate to say it but its true.. So many cars I've considered sponsoring in the past I've either been burnt on or they install it them selves and it looks a mess.
No one wants to buy there equipment these days, were one of the only brands you won't find on Ebay and we will keep it that way. The race to Zero has to stop somewhere..

Dukk you see the kicker hearse from 2 years ago, that was a fly ride, never did see it in the mags but wow what a job.

As The Icon was just saying.... these cars don't get in to a magazine for free.

Everything you see in PAS is there because someone paid for it.

Those product reviews you see by DMac?... all there because someone paid for ad space.

The Icon 10-19-2006 04:13 PM

You make that sound dirty Jordy.. Like I paid for a good review.. There have been reviews pulled by the manufactures or graphs taken out or specs left out because they did not make the requirements, some pretty well known names too. Anything you read in the review is true to form its what you don’t read that is hidden..

Confirmed the Audi from the cover of PASMAG for CES too so now I don’t have to drive..

Sorry... I never meant to imply anything about you or Macrom, I obviously know nothing about your dealings with.... well... anyone :D

I was just stating facts based on my experience with PAS :smilie_da

Now that PasMag is deep in the USA and cover so many different aspects they really are the rag to advertise with. People pick it up for different aspects I don't care which just so long as there reading it.
Last primedia add folder I have costs for a full page was:
10,365 USD for one add and if you were in all 7 it dropped to 7,705( 49,000 USD?)
That was for Car audio and Electronics.

I'd rather throw that money at the dealers, at least they are a selling my product and supporting the consumer that buys our brand.

Pasmag is fairly cheap to advertise as far as advertising goes. Their rates are below most other mags i'll agree with you there. The only cheaper canadian mag i found to advertise with is Quebec Tuning. The most expensive quote I ever got actually was from Automotive News, which is sort of a dealer/manufacturer paper. It was 2500usd for a small 4x2 4 colour in classifieds. Keep in mind this is a weekly paper, so it adds up quick...

Funny story time about Primedia: I received a UPS package from Primedia that was supposed to be my media kit for Motor Trend and Automobile mag. In reality what I got was 2 hot rod mags with a nasty complaint from Cyberdyne explaining how their ultra blue gauges turned purple in the magazine. So I call the rep and explain to her she might want to check in on their mail room once in a while. She absolutely freaks and explains it is not her fault as a matter of fact I must be wrong about what I received and she will send replacements immediately. I've never had a rep of any kind freak on me for any reason whatsoever, so I thought this was pretty funny...

Everyone should do print media :smilie_au

yep saw it... display cars are money pits with marginal return...

Sponsorships can be a tough choice... some people are persistent about offloading free stuff, others just don't care and send a pre-canned e-mail...

It's the same in all media types. Manufacturers never pay to have positive reviews, it's just all the perks that are included to make the review favourable. Ever wonder why every luxury sport oriented vehicle is tested in germany on the autobahn? Who pays for 1st class airfare and 5 star hotel? the manufacturer
