PG Octane-R 8.0:1 vs. MTX 801D
#1
hello
this will be my entry system
i want to get 2 12" Infinity Reference 1230w subs that are rated at 300watts each
i have been looking around for a decent amp and have now narrowed it down to 2
the MTX 801D which puts put around 800watts RMS
or the PG Octane-R 8.0:1 which puts out about 600watts RMS
will i run into any problems pumping out 400watts to each of my 300watts sub?

shouldn't be a problem, my neighbour's been putting 1000watts rms into his 1230's for the last year and he hasn't blown them yet and they sound great, great sub for the money he bought them off ebay for 70.00 each brand new from a local ebayer.

the MTX one has more power and is an old model now. I saw the new MTX amps at A&B the other day and they are blowing out the 801D's. you should be able to haggle a good deal.
I bought an 801D and its awesome. i am selling it to get something new.

I'd personally grab the PG amp over the MTX. Their octane series amps are pretty decent, granted not as good as the Xenons, but they are definently good amps that will do what they say and have great SQ. If the prices are close, I'd grab the PG.
