Pioneer Deck doens't clip?
#1
Last week I was checking out my buddies pioneer deck.. its a mid line, and I used my scope on the RCA outs to check for clipping and had the volume up to the MAX but the waveform was still fine...
does Pioneer have some sort of anti clip technology in their deck?

What tool do you need to hvae to see if your RCA's clip?
I have an older Pioneer DEX-P78 and I never thought it clipped, but I have always been uneasy about it. I'd like to find out if I can crank it up all the way and keep the gains on my amps a little lower.
Thanks,
Craig G

All you need is a CD with a 1000hz test tone on it. Ideally recorded at 0db attenuation.
You'll be able to hear when it clips. Yes an O-scope shows you sooner when it clips but if you can't hear it then who cares.

http://www.nch.com.au/tonegen/ Download the test tone generator, you can make c.d.'s with all sorts of tones on them.
