I am also looking at those two brands but the Kenwood deck I am looking at is:
KDC-BT838U
and the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB
I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty and am waying the options of having a custom box built of going with a JL Audio stealth box.
Any advice. I am new at this, I want a well balanced system not a LOUD system. I feel like the 12" sub in the stealth box might be too much.
Thanks
Jai

My fiancee bought an Excelon KDC-x592. 3 pairs of 4V pre-outs, 2 year warranty, and USB connectivity via a cable. She bought an 8Gig flash drive from Walmart to store her music files on. So far, this is the only item we've purchased that has been installed in her car.
I still can't get over how much of an improvement this deck is over the stock unit. The volume, clarity, and mid-bass production from all her speakers is very impressive. We have a 3 channel amp, a 12" Eclipse Sw7200, and MBQ PVI216's (yet to be purchased) that will finish up her setup.
We looked at Pioneer too. Its hard to make a decision. As long as you buy a quality brand, you shouldn't be disappointed with anything you choose. Sometimes little things like navigation through the menus and setup options are what get annoying after you've had the unit installed.
If you have a chance to play around with the decks, see which one is easier to use.
