Pioneer sub - any good?

Simple question.

Picked up a new Pioneer championship TS-W308D4 12" on clearance for $79.

I only paid 79 so I am not expecting $300 + performance, but is it:

Total Crap

Decent

OK

good value?

thanks!

Futureshop has them on clearance for 99.99.

I told the kid to price out a whole set up + install and asked for a break on the sub.

Then said I would just pick up the sub today and come back for the rest

hey by any chance you weren't the dude I was trying to give a break to because you said you wanted the whole setup.....

(I work at futureshop)
lol calm dowwwnnnnnnnn.

No it wasn't you, you are in Ottawa.

And the sub is already in my Garage...

I also know the installer at the store I go to, real good guy that I trust so I will be going there for install. I'll probably also get the amp kit there as well. Just wasn't paying the full price for the amp and box.

I also have the guys name who I dealt with and will put his name down when I go back in.

i don't work there lol I was trying to punk you....lol...

but since your asking....custom boxes are always better then prefabs(so I've heard many times on this forum)...since you can build the box exactly to the subwoofers specs.

there's a few people on the site that do this....for a comparable price(to prefab boxes)

but really not that hard to make urself(with a bit of knowledge and tools)

looking at that sub a little closer...your getting an amp that can do 2 ohm loads?

or even an amp that can do 1 ohm?......in case you get another dual 4 ohm sub.(both wired down to 1 0hm)

considerable power going to these subs with the right amp would produce some good base.

I'll be running a Alpine MRP-M500..
I do believe it can do 2 ohm loads at 500 rms.. not sure about 1 ohm though
