Type R's are not built for ported boxes, however, who cares what alpine suggests.'
Here's what I suggest.....buy your 2 R's and then buy the one that I have that still works and run 3 10's ported tuned to 35-36HZ and a really big amp.
What you need to watch out for sometimes on the R's is the tensel leads will seperate from the binding posts....ask Brad77 about that

Tune in the mid-high 30's. I prefer a slot port because you can more easily choose the port area you want. No, you don't need 40" of port. There'll be little difference with even half that amount.
