hi. i know this may be a dumb question, but if you have 2 subs would you run it on a mono 4ohm load at 500rms power (classD or a 2ohm load at 300rms watts(a sub on each channel of a classA 2-channel amp) ?? i mean since 2 ohms plays lower what would the comparison in power be? hope it makes sense? thanx!!

im no expert at this, but each sub needs it's own channel. so if you run it in mono you will still be only getting 2 ohms.

hey experts did i say that right.

So basically the options are..

500RMS in to a 4Ohm load for both subs (250 each)

or

300RMS x2 into a 2Ohm load for each sub (300 each)

I'd go with the 300 each.

oh damn! sorry forgot to specify that. my subs are DVC so a 4ohm load when wired together on the mono amp OR wired in paralell on each sub to get a 2 ohm load per channel on the 2-channel. thx

code:

[/QUOTE]even if the mono amp is a JL500.1 and the 2-ch. is a pioneer gm-x922, its was fairly big size for pioneer a few years ago when i got it. 600watts max. howver not big these days, but not bad.

Can you bridge the 2 channel amp?

If so I'm thinking you can probably get that 600w out of a 4Ohm mono load. Which would be right for what your sub has.

yes thats true. i can put the subs on a 4 ohm load mono to 300/600max, or wire each DVC individually for a 2 ohm load on each channel, 150x2 rms. same thing right? but would that be better than using JL which i could ONLY run at 4 ohm load coz my subs are DVC? thx!

What kinda subs are they? I'd have to agree with jordyo on using the pioneer bridged.
Or you can try the 500.1 on one sub, They are dual 4s right?

im confused. the 2 DVC's wired together will give me a 4ohm load. so putting it on the pioneer will give me 300rms watts from the pioneer on one channel. how would putting it on the pioneer be better if the JL puts out 500rms + at 4 ohms too??

Sorry dont know were my head was at.
The pioneer is 600w MAX= use the jl!
The jl can do a 2 ohm mono load too so you can wire either way, allthough same power will be acheived. I think its 500w@1.5-4 ohms?
Ive heard the 500.1s are a little underrated, but even 500w RMS is plenty out of that amp.
A buddy at work has that amp running 2 jl 10s and it is loud as hell! And sounds great!
Try it i guarantee you'll keep it.

*EDIT* Sorry dont know were i got 2 ohms from? Wire it to the jl @ 4 ohms.....
