Ok so I haven't played around so much with PPI EQs - blame it on the lousy local dealer not being able to sell worth a damn.
Any way... PPI EQ31 vs. DEQ230. Yeah they're different shapes and whatnot but is one significantly preferred over the other. Any issues similar to AC EQs and the constant whine they build in or anything? Just looking for some feedback on these. |
we used two of the EQ31's in the Avenger, I wouldn't rate it better than the DEQ230 but it was cheaper and did the job.
I have also used a few AC peices over the years and never had any Whine problems either. I have a friend in the states that might sell a few of his DEQ230's he just had them chromed so I'm not sure how much he'd want for them. |
I have the DEQ230… overall a very nice piece. Flexible easy to install nice RJ-45 connections. Very low noise floor, no alternator whine! A musical piece but it did roll off the HF a bit once it is in the system. I don’t know how it measures up to the high end stuff (Adams standards) but it was as good an EQ as I have heard this side of a Cello pallette (I didn’t throw it out, but I am not using it in other words).

My AC EQX was a big whiner, and I needed to do A LOT of EQ to balance the sound. The system needed a lot less EQ with the PPI in the system so I think that indicates it was les intrusive than the EQX. I literally gave away the EQX after hearing the PPI

DEQ 230........ detach top right ?!?! Been a while. I had one of those PPI 31 (or was it 30 band?!?!) band units where the top control piece came off and was connected via a telephone cable. Work very nicely. Tuning abilities from the driver's seat with a long enuf cable

^ That's the piece.
I read somewhere that someone had a PPI DEQ230 and it added some hash or fuzz to the system. A very little bit but still.. Other than that I am pretty sure I would like the unit. Plus the shape is cool. The EQ31 is part of the "New PPI" which frankly I don't think is as skookum as the old stuff. Keith - will do, he should be coming over on Saturday to work on his car (been 2 months). And yeah the Orion DEQ30 is wicked but I doubt anyone would sell for what I am willing to pay so I'm not even considering it or other electronic EQs Thanks for the feedback all. |
Say the word Dukk-a-roo and I will ship it to you so you can T&E... maybe write an evaluation like a cetain PEI guy we know?
|
You should just sell it to me my friend.
Cheap :D |
I was told that although they were different physically they were identical. I'm waiting for a CCA member to sell me their DEQ-230. Right now I have a set of EQTs. I don't have any problems with them...
Dukk just go old school and buy my Crunch CEQ-31... [ September 10, 2004, 06:29 PM: Message edited by: mqqball ] |
That's a decent piece but it is H-U-G-E. I have no room for that thing.
|
It's not that big...its only 9" x 14"...
|
^ it would fit nicely in an amp rack
|
Personally, I find the best use for EQs is to hold down paper on my desk... ;)
|
^ I generally agree. I am only casually looking for one.
