Price shopping for insurance claims

I know the vast majority of you have had to deal with at least one insurance claim . Being in BC, our car insurance is mainly provincial(ICBC).

I get people in the store all the time doing their price estimates. Once I inform them that ICBC dictates what they will receive and how much it is worth, for most of them that is the end of their price shopping. It seems that these people were not aware that ICBC looked after that end of the deal. As far as private insurance goes, we have had a number of occasions that we have had to provide a quote to ING Western Union for stolen stereo equipment. At no point in time though would I do the [img]graemlins/2xblown.gif[/img] to get the deal though. I treat each insurance company the same way. This brings my customer back to see me time after time.

SGI here makes the customer get atleast two replacement quotes if you do not have receipts.. Which means the idiots shop for the highest price [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Should the customer decide to add a purchase to the install/claim(insurance), would you play with the prices quoted on the claim, to close the deal of the added purchase?

goto jail, dont pass go, dont collect 200. unless the product listed is no longer available and the replacement unit is more or less, or the customer wants to upgrade. but even then when i used to process them i'd give them the information let the customer duke it out with thier claims adjuster and bring me back a new claim with the product the want.

When I was running Kelowna/Vernon, I personally hated doing ICBC. They never put enough labor in thier qoutes, and we always ended up doing other crap for free. Like one time a jetta needed a new deck, and the customer showed up with a new ski boot for the back seat (that is how they got into the car) and informed us that Icky-Bicky said WE would install it! For the cost of the HALF PRICE deck install! So, consequently, I almost avoided doing their jobs.
Sorry, I just think my bitterness extends from 11 years of paying WAY too much for insurance and all the times a recieved the worst customer service from ICBC. Praise the allmighty for Alberta private insurance!! (When your over 24 years of age that is!)
