ok i got a kenwood MP728 head unit, to a Rockford Fosgate P600.1db, running two 12" Phoenix gold Octane type R's, no cap. sounds great till i turn it up about half way then the power cuts out to everything then turna back on again? wut the hell is going on here??? power to the deck is coming from the power source the previous deck was hooked to when i bought the truck, amp is hooked to power source previous amp was, the old one is really shitty, and small wires, should i run it direct from the battery?? not enough power???kinda new to this but not to much, trying too broadin my horizons LOL

A few possibilities... check near the battery for, instead of a fuse, a circuit breaker with a low current rating (this feeds the amps directly). Also try hooking up the blue trigger wire (this turns on the amps) going to the amps to battery power (make sure you fuse it first).

That's all I can think of at the moment.

 

Try running a fresh power wire from your battery to your deck, i have the same deck and I have no problems... also if you are not running speakers off of the head units built in amp you can deactivate it completely and that should cause less of a drain..

 

well the vehicle is a 1989 toyota 4runner the sr5 V6 if it makes a diffrence, it has some crazy built in to it. when i bought it, it had a pre existing setup. crappy but there. all pioneer, old pioneer from mid 90's. so i used the preexisting wiring for my setup. un fortunalty my Rockford P600.1bd amp take a little more power than the old pioneer, i think it put out 60Wx2, LMAO! so the wiring needs to be setup again i think. it would have a fuse in the pre existing setup right? i always assumed this, but now i dont know. and its not just the deck that dies, the amp powers down to. im going to try to fix this today i will post later to tell how it all went, and ill take some pics to while im at it.
