Ok i picked up the punch 45HD and from my other thread i got the impression that 2 ohms bridged will be fine for this thing.
I have yet to pick up a sub(s) i could use some opinions from the guys with experience with the old punch gear before i choose a sub or subs.

Well in the late 80's and early 90's I had 2-12" mtx blue thunder subs hooked up to my punch 45 and it was very nice. It was hooked up at 2 ohms bridged and I never had any problems even cruising around for 6 hours at a shot( I lived in my stang back in those days). Since then I've been a RF fan.

It used to be common practice to run the P45HD at 2 mono all the time. Now, that amp IS getting close to 15 years old so I would be cautious.

What subwoofers are you considering?

128 ohms? 0.125 ohms? or several variations in-between?

The point isn't how many drivers one can run but the final impedance the amp will tolerate.

I hooked my SS Class A 6.0's to a screw and it didn't shut down for about 30 seconds, the screw got real hot!

I loved those amps! I used to run 4 12's off of 1. I was at a sterio shop some years back and in the sound room, 1 was hooked up. the salesman selected the punch 45 amp then held down all the speaker/subs buttons. Man, I couldnt believe it! They dont make them like that anymore thats for sure.

LOL - we used to cut a pencil and bare both ends of the graphite and hook it up mono to the amp while the amp played stereo to speakers. When the pencil caught on fire you knew you had a sale [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
