A relative newb to the world of car sound systems. Just curious, I have amp'ed up my speakers off of an Alpine MRP F240. I would like to add sub to this set up. I want to get the full effect of the sub, so I would hook up a sub with a stand alone amp.

I was just curious if I were to go the two amp route would I be constantly going through altenators and car batteries? Once again, I am a newb and I am not completely sure.

Thanks

btw..if it makes a difference or not...i'm looking at a inifity or Alpine type s subs and probably 200-400 rms amp..

All depends on what you currently have for a battery and alternator. With the amount you are talking about, I'd say that you shouldn't be worried about going through them.
Unless of course you leave your car off with the stereo blasting for long periods of time, which could eventually wreck your battery.
Other than that, you should be Ok.

run your system for a while and see how it reacts. some stock car electric`s can run big power with no ill effects. if your lights start to dim at high volume levels, than you can consider an upgrade. you can go with a big capacity battery like an optima yellow top for exapmle (180 bucks at sam`s club), or do a big three. but most important run good power wire. (4ga).

Thanks for the input...

I have decided just to bridge my amp and run the sub off of that..
