Question about Alpine PDX-1.600 amp

Hi, I'm thinking about getting the Alpine PDX-1.600 amp:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9113_Alpine+PDX-1.600.html

In the description, however, it says that it does not have bast boost. Does this mean that I will not be able to control the level of bass with this amp?

Thanks

All bass boost does is boost a specific frequency by so many db. Sort of creates a bump in the response. I never use mine.

Oh I see. So it's just artificially created by the amp?

Basically yes. You could visualize it like this .... If you start with a perfectly flat response line and add the amps bass boost the frequency at which the amp boosts (some are fixed at like 45hz or so and some have adjustable hz) will show a bump in the response.

Were you looking for a remote level control and not bass boost? That is something totally different.

Think of it as a one band eq! Remote bass level control is like a remote volume control for the bass frequencies amplified by the sub amp.

Ya, I'd like to be able to control the amount of bass through my head unit. I'm guessing this is what a remote volume control is for the bass?

If your deck has an RCA output for the sub it probably has a Xover and level control for that output....that control will do the same thing as a remote gain control for the amp......

Set the amp gain with the deck control at "0"........
