question about mp3 decks
#1
i currently have a jvc kd s790 or somehting like that. its a simple 50x4 deck with not too many features.
i want to buy an mp3 deck that does 250x4 can play mp3s and has 4v preouts.
my only question is that will burning a bunnch of mp3s (128kbps - 192 kbps) on a cd and listening to it like that as opposed to burning them onto a proper audio (74min) cd.
will i lose sound quality and bass and highs and stuff?
or will i not notice any difference?

Where do I start?
First, you have a deck that puts out at the most 20 watts by 4 channels. The 50 by 4 is all hype.
There are very very few separate amplifiers that can put out 250 watts by 4 into a 4 ohm load. (common load of most speakers) You will not find this level of power in a deck by itself. From personal experience, I'd get an external amplifier that has "line level inputs". This will allow you to keep your deck, and ad more power to your system.
MP3s are a step down in sound quality from CDs. Try a little test yourself, get an MP3 disk, and a CD and try em out at your local car audio shop. That should answer the question easily.
4 volt pre-outs are a myth. The do exist, but they are not nessary for good sound when using RCA outputs from a deck. A high voltage pre-out can help with lowering the noise floor, but it will do nothing to hide ground loops (buzzing sounds) present when you have the volume turned all the way down, or have your CD paused.

obviously there will be a sq hit , but I have found if you keep it 256k and up it's not noticable while driving
192k is aceptable but deffinatly noticable
128k sucks *** big time
if your source files started out as mp3's and were converted to wav format and burnt on a cd there will be no sq difference as the sq can only be as good as the source file you started with you can't put back in the stuff taken out by the mp3 encoding process by uncompressing the file

ok ya. right now i download mp3'd and burn them on a cd and listen to that off my car.
with an mp3 deck instead of making a cd with the mp3s if i just burn those mp3's straight on the cd the sound quality will be the same. right?
