Question about new subs but now less audio
#11
Yeah, it's a nice amp but only question is the Pioneer GM-D510M would provide 150 rms x2 (4 ohm)and may not be enough but 300 rms x2 (2 ohm) may be too much for the new speakers...
Hmmm, the things I need to think about... thx!

Are you getting LESS bass or NO bass? If it is NO (are barely any at all) bass then I would double check your wiring for polarity as one driver may be out of polarity. Unhook the speaker wire at the amp and use a small battery to make sure both drivers move in unison.

Well, the after I installed the 2x new 4 ohm subs (wired parallel) the bass was almost gone. Rrrr. With the old 2x 8ohm subs (wired parralel) IT POUNDED!
But reading the above posts how these 2x new 4ohm subs (wired parallel) bridged mono created a 1ohm load, I kind of have to make decision...
Keep the old setup or now that I have new 4ohm subs, buy a larger amp. I always thought I could wire 2x 4ohm subs in parallel bridged mono and things would be fine ~ but my GM-X802 amp would have 1ohm load I guess.
Anyways! SOMETHING will go'in up for sale I guess!

I understand that you wired them in parallel - I am asking that you double check you polarity. It's a simple error with a simple solution.
And on a bridged amplifier the amp sees that as the same as a 1 ohm stereo load.
2 SVC 4 ohm subs wired in parallel will give you a 2 ohm mono load, not 1 ohm

^^definitely check the polarity as DUKK has stated, this is a very common problem with a costless fix. Also, check with a battery, that the subs are working at all, I have had a few subs(used) that had broken tinsel leads.
As far as the GM-D510 amp...it is an excellent amp for the money. Would not think twice about using one(or three) in the future.

but like Dukk also said, check polarity
