question about wiring subs
I am running 2 JBL 10" subs.. They are dual voice coil and are 4ohm. I have them hooked up to an Alpine 3545 amp.. I have it running in 2 channel with each sub to one channel and only using one voice coil. They dont sound very loud so I am thinking of rewiring it. The specs on the amp are 250wx2@4ohm, 350wX2@2ohm and 700WX1@4ohm. Should I wire the subs together and run the amp bridged at 4 ohms or should I go 2 channel and wire the subs to 2 ohms.. What configuration would be the loudest??
Thanks
Shane..

danyman just a quick question, will it make any difference at all if he series the coils and then paralel the subs and bridged the amp @ 4ohms? He would still be getting 350/sub and the amp would only be seeing 4ohms. Less stress on the amp? Cleaner sound? Less heat? Just wondering what the pros and cons are of both ways.
Thanks

It will also change what happens if one of the drivers blows or shorts out....but that never happens right?

if the sub lets say is rated 350 and its a DVC. if you run 350 only to 1 coil it will do damage. its like running 700watts rms to that sub on the DVC. overpower this much can be very stressfull. i still like the 2 channel at 2ohm option better. 350watts rms to each sub properly. 175watts per coil instead of 350

Thanks very much guys.. This is what I was trying to figure out.. I will run them in stereo wired in parallel so the amp sees a 2ohm load..Thanks again.. Just so you know Danyman, im doin this in a 91 Caravan...
