I have been offered a trade of a new in box Earthquake D3 for my mint condition US Amps 4000X.

My only use for the 4000X is competitions and I have the alternator and batteries to support it's hunger.

What would you guys do?

batteries?? and when u say alternator u mean u gonna run the car during the competition? having multiple batteries and having the car on would put u in a pertty high class for spl competitions, atleast it wouldu for db drag. and with only one 4000x i'd say it will be very hard to be competative (maybe on the local level when u are the only guy in the class).

i say u tradet hat 4000x and get a D3. Run D3 at 0.5 ohm for comps.

Oh yea and my coil configuration is 4ohm or 1ohm, so that works well for the 4000x but not optimal for the D3

u know if u break that 4000x it's garbage.

and if u planning to run it at 1 ohm mono it is a high possibility the us amps will break.

^ I have the highest respect for US Amps, top notch stuff, I wouldn’t recommend running an X series amp into 1 ohm they will probably do it for a while but...(they are 2 ohm stable)

The 4000x is 4 ohm mono stable.... not 2ohm.

His problem seems to be he doesnt think he is getting enough power from it...but when asked, he didnt tell me why he didnt think he got all the power.

It is a 4000watt amp that can do that much RMS power in short bursts only. The only thing I could think of is that perhaps it needs higher voltage to do so.

phiberoptic: I would really recommend emailing US AMPS and asking them what your amp needs to get the full power. That amp should be a true beast for burps.

Best of luck.

I don't think I am getting full power from the 4000X because other amps that are rated at 1/2 the power of my 4000X seem louder...
