well tube amps never have high output, but they do have a sound all there own thats for sure!
Tubes can absolutely have high output. The benefit of tubes is that they do not have the switching distortion that a bi-polar or to a lesser extent a mosfet has.
I am fond of the sound of a tube pre-amp with a solid state power amp.
