I encountered the same rattle problem after changing my windshield.
It was the plastic of the mirror rubbing against the glass. Just need to put some thin foam tape between the surfaces.
I worked at a Toyota dealer and thats what they use to fix squeaks and rattles.
works in many applications. dash, door pannels ect.

as for [i]con, if u dont compete, rip it off
you dont legally need it
if you enjoy having a mirror and its still rattles after u attempt to stop it, rip it off and replace it with one out of a diffrent vehicle that dosnt have lights or anything.
personally, if it was mine, it wouldnt have a mirror....lol
