Does the vehicle have to be in neutral for it to start? and if you try to start it while it's in gear...it just won't.....Or will it be wired up so that it can start in gear?
|
needs to be out of gear...
|
ok...just checkin
on that ntoe...i got my components into the jeep (running off the deck at the moment) and it sounds about a million times better....now when i get a chance i can put in the amps and subs....and see how much more of a diff the components make when amp'd....it's crazy how big of a diff it is so far (i miss all my music-sucked not having it) |
Every manual transmission starter currently on the market will technically start when the vehicle is in gear, there is no direct way for the starter to know whether the car is in neutral or not. If you don't beleive me do the "ready mode" and leave the window down. Once the car is ready to be started, reach in the window and put the car in gear, now try remote starting it, I am not responsible for what happens next. That is why they all say "do not install on Jeeps and convertables."
|
The remote start Iam putting on my car right now is for use with standard vehicles....
There is a negative input for the parking break switch.... so if the parking break aint on, the car won't start..... |
even with the park brake on, most cars will still move when cranking. I had a "manual" safe starter fail and try to start in gear with the ebrake on, it jumped a sidewalk and hit a building. Ever hear of On Start? they have gone out of business about 4 times now.

lol i went with the compustart 2way...it's pretty hot so far...i haven't been outta range of it from any of hte places i've been yet, but i haven't been to the theatre or to the mall yet!
I more so just wanted to make sure that they hooked it up the correct way lol. |
what about a car that require's the clutch to be pushed in to start.
|
i dunno how they do it...but i assume tit be the same as the vehicles that require the brake pushed down to start (as is mine!)

the compustar 2wfmas is very easy to put into reservation mode and doesnt require 1293 steps, put foot an brake, pull e-brake, remove key, open door, close door the car will now shut off and arm itself, i do tons of starters in manuauls, but i only use manual specific starters(compustar), and never put them in convertables or roofless vehicles

I agree, the compustar is definately the most user friendly remote start I have seen. Even the other ones usually only require you to press one button on the remote to go to ready mode. |

Humdee... Well I guess it's not all the bad then. The impression I got from a fellow installer was that it was a real pain in the dink to use them, but then I don't think he's done a manual in a few years. We've essentially been told not to do them under any circumstances due to liability issues. Anyhoo, I should probably do a little more research before opening my big mouth. We don't do them at our shop either, I used to do them all the time when I worked at ACC. They are not that bad to do.
