Just thought I'd share... I drove my car last winter, no stereo in it yet, and it drove great, good traction, good handling etc.

This winter rolls around and the story is different... no traction at stop lights, hard to get up hills, and the only thing that changed is that I added the system to the trunk.

So I started looking at the car, and the way the weight was distributed, and saw something unsettling. Since my car is a front wheel drive, having weight on the front wheels is vital to getting the car to move, and with (like most cars) the trunk residing behind the rear wheels, all of the weight from the system was acting like a lever, with the rear wheels as the fulcrum.

In short, the weight of the stereo was taking all the weight off of the drive wheels, causing the car to lose traction. Since my wife is pregnant, and her and the baby's safety is of utmost importance, I decided to remove the stereo from the trunk (4 weeks to install, 45 minutes to rip it out). Night and day difference in handling, the weight and everything is gone, the traction has improved, and all is well... now for snow tires!

try useing some weight up front say in the passenger side of the car (like salt and you can us it on ice in the direway)

Meh... less then 150lbs in the trunk of my car sure isn't going to make any noticable difference....

try a DD 9500 series.. that'll add some wieght... as well as goliath box that it'll go in.. it makes a huge difference to me. My car handles awfully with it in... also it doesn't accelerate or brake nearly as well..

So I can relate to Sassmaster totally
