I can't say I've had your traction issues, but my Integra handles a thousand times better minus the stereo in the trunk. I forgot how fun this car was. It might only be ~100lbs, but a lot of is positioned all the way at the back of the car, placing a fair bit of pressure on the rear suspension and lightening up the front.
Despite that, I can't wait to get the stereo back in there |
lol now i know why i need new rear shockes... its those dang subs.

All my gear weighs in at a hefty 300lbs. +
(5 amps, 2 extra batteries, BIG box, heavy sub, mdf amp boards, and miles of heavy welding cable). All it does is improve traction for me :D Doesn't noticably hurt my milage either |
If the stereo is really making that much a difference in traction in the snow, then it is no doubt affecting your steering even in the summer months, and that is dangerous to begin with...

Weight in the back of a front wheel drive should improve traction!
|
teheboy it will have the oposite effect. it will take weight of your drive wheels making it harder to get traction. i think i may do that as well . i am jstu gonna have to live without bass for 4 months i guess "tear". with no abs this winter and brakes taht tend to lock up in teh back . i need all teh advanteges i can get.

The real reason that this made such a big difference is that my entire install was behind the rear axle, which meant that none of the weight was within the wheelbase, causing a lever effect. If the subs were between the front and rear wheels, this wouldn't have been an issue, my next install will take that into account.

See what some morons don't realize it that having 50/50 traction is much better than having the most traction up front. Remember intelectually challanged folks that being able to accelerate the best is not the safest for winter. I'd rather not spin around the corner cause I got 10% traction on my back tires. X |
