Retro Install

Retro Install
So I just bought a 93 Escort wagon and it needs a system. I have a bunch of gear lying around from when I used to install. Thought it would be fun to do a retro install - like you would have seen back in the early 90's. I have collected pretty much everything I need except for a 90's CD player. I want an Alpine 7903 as that was the first cd player I had, but still looking for one.
Started on the sub install last night. Just going to use the spare tire well as an enclosure. I am using fleck stone paint for accents on the sub enclosure and the door speakers. I have a PPI Art series amp and crossover, and some Rockford Punch Splits and a Punch sub. The only new stuff will be my wiring - all from KnuKonceptz.
Sub baffle board,

Nice, should be a sweet install from the golden age of car audio. Finding a 7903 might be a little tough, keep an eye out on Craigslist. I have a 7930 circa 1996 in storage, nice sounding deck.
Looking forward to more pics.

You know, I might actually have a 7903. I just got all my stock delivered here in Calgary today from my storage unit back in BC. I have to go through it all this weekend. I will see if I can find what it was. I am pretty sure it was a pullout.

Got some work done tonight. Ran all the wires and got the sub baffle in and mounted. Probably will put the carpet back in tomorrow and connect the amp and crossover. Had the first application of the fleck stone paint tonight too

Got some more work done the other night. Finished the sub install and got the amps mounted and the carpet back in. Just need to make the door panels, a finisher for the right rear corner of the hatch, and find a deck.
I was thinking of an angling the door panel out at the bottom and moving the speakers right to the front edge of the door. They are about 6" back from the front edge right now. Will do the same removable black grill as the sub and the fleck stone paint on the baffle.

So got some more work done. Finished the drivers door panel and will do the pass side this weekend. I love my new old RF speakers! So old school, but then that was the point of this project. Just need to find my head unit now. Might prove to be a little difficult though.
Layout for the doors
Some bondo and fleck paint
In the car!
Looking forward to getting this done, the wife asked yesterday how much longer do we have to drive around with no door panels on

Retro Install
Had to reply, I just pulled my 7903 out of the box yesterday and powered it up to see if it worked and it does!. I also will be starting a retro gear install in 01' t/a with a PG Outlaw and Bandit. Would love to find a second Bandit to make it more symetrical if anybody knows of one out there. Also would like a 7909 as I'm sure everybody else would also but if anybody has one out there let me know.
