Im looking into a haedunit upgrade and wondered what people thought of the ROCKFORD RFX9100? Im fairly new to the caraudiophile scene. Mainly want a simple clean and elegant unit.

Go shopping! All of the name brands(Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion, Eclipse etc...) will sound great. What you are asking for is a very subjective quality and all you will get here is personal favourites. I suggest you determine what your needs and wants are and start shopping for those features. I believe most will agree that Nakamichi products are pretty clean visually and feature wise, as well as the aforementioned Denon/Rockford brand. Keep in mind that simple, clean decks usually have very few convenience features and most don't play mp3/wma compressed files and are usually very expensive. The price and lack of features is supposed to reflect higher quality sound, which is very debatable.
