Running Components & Wooffer with one amp, Bad idea?

Hifonics HFi100.4 (HFi 100.4) 4-Channel Car Amplifier/Amp

I plan to purchase this amp for my Morel Tempo's, Which are 120 RMS per-channel, And I picked out a lower-end Image Dynamics sub.

CTX104 IMAGE DYNAMICS SUB 10" CTX 4 OHM BASS SUBWOOFER - eBay (item 120608723338 end time Oct-12-10 13:35:41 PDT)

This amp should push out 100 x 2 @ 4ohm for the front Components, And 200 x 1 @ 4ohm bridged for the woofer.

I want to purchase ONE amp because buying another amp will just cost more.

I know the amp I chose isn't THE best but the specs on the amp are what I need, and I don't think that amp is a pos either. It looks in-between and that's exactly what I want.

So do you think this is safe to do? Or should I keep looking.

(Yes I spelled woofer 'Woffer', Horrible typo)

It's fine. It's made to do just what you want it to.

4 Chanelle amps are made for 4 channelles. And finding a bridgeable one is the best solution.

Not everyone needs to have like $5000 in stereo equipment lol. That amp and sub will make that car of yours sound intense I bet.

nothing wrong with those amps...ran a bx 1205D for 4 years at 1ohm through coldest winter and hottest summer for 4-5 hours a day with never a problem.

Thanks guys.

About that MTX, How much wattage would it bridge on the second channel for a sub?

Not really understanding the specs.

The MTX would be 75x2 and 300x1 in your application. Many people use a 4ch amp this way and it works fine. Plus it gives you the option of picking up a dedicated sub amp in the future and biamping your fronts.

There is the one caveat that most 4ch amps have just one power supply for the whole amp so if you get a major bass hit those channels can effectively use up most of the power and cause the fronts to clip, but it generally isn't a big deal.

Thanks Dukk.

My first car amp was an MTX Thunder. What a sweet little amp and it was built like a tank...

Never had a problem with it, I would purchase that brand again!

The MTX might be better to buy if I wanted to upgrade my sub in the future to something more powerful.

300watts is all I need, I just want a decent SQ system and nothing too crazy.

I really like the TC6004. My Coustic 4ch amps have the same board in them and they've kept me happy for 6 years.

My Morels are rated at 120watts RMS per channel, But I think 75 would be fine.

I also read that the birthsheet will show higher RMS than what it shows in stores, or on the internet.

But I am guessing not EVER amp is exactly the same anyhow...

Here's what I read.

"This amp is rated at 75W RMS, but on the birth sheet it was tested at 123W RMS! I am impressed with the sound quality that this amp produces and would highly recommend it. It was a very good buy at a decent price."

"I replaced my factory speakers with Infinity Kappa 6x8's in my 4 door ford explorer. I have this Mtx Thunder Amp powering them and they hit really hard, furthermore on more acoustic songs they sound wonderful as well. I used 4 gauge amp kit to hook this amp up. i would recommend this amp. one more thing the piece of paper with the actual specs this amp was tested or at least the one i got are a lot better then the specs listed on this website."
