I've got an older Alpine 3555 4 channel amp(50 watts x 4 @4 ohms). I recently pulled it out of storage and hooked it up to P.G. Octane R 6.5 coaxials(front) and 330 watt Pioneer 6 x 9 (rear). These speakers should easily handle the power from the amp. Whenever I turn up the gain past half on either front or rear, the speakers will be sounding great but when I'm near full juice on the deck they will start to make a scratchy sound. Everytime I turn up the gain past half and crank up the system the speakers will start scratching. Any ideas?

I think that all of the speakers start to scratch at the same time left, right, front, and rear. I'm running 2 sets of rcas to the amp, front and rear.

Hey

If I remember correctly the 3555 uses a hybrid amp IC. I had a 3533 that made a similar noise when pushed too loud, I attributed it to the IC's clipping.

Yeah Dukk, maybe if I put a mono 2000 watt rms amp to each speaker they'll sound even better
