DUKK secretly listens to sealed enclosures, you guys just didn't know about it. Doug Gilroy, blast from the past, is a walking book of knowledge when it comes to car audio. Might be so old that he farts viagra pills now, have not seen that guy in a looooong time. So how is that sealed enclosure treating you Paul?

quartman, im intersted to hear the reasoning behind your statement regarding ported boxes having no place in the small confines of a vehicle. my experience putting subwoofer designed specifically for sealed into a vented box, is a massive increase in output that cant be disputed, but at the sacrifice of good sounding bass, dukk is right, it ported boxes give you tons of output, but, a woofer designed specifically for ported boxes, imo, gives the best bass ive ever heard in cars, but few woofers available today are designed strictly for vented. im very lucky that i sell avi woofers, they are designed for vented and give stunning performance if applied properly, but sealed is no doubt more forgiving, when it comes to box limitations like ,size etc...

Randy, I didn't really see my post as slam to your car. I have yet to see it. Throw up a sounddomain page so we can see it. You talk quite a bit about it and the marvelous sound it has on the carsound forum. Just want to see what the hype is about No argument here

defro well put and said. there is a time and a place for every type of enclosure. as stated most subs are not very forgiving when placed in a ported box, with the exception of avi, and if iam not mistaken the design concept is still from howard doctor. and if you ever talked to him you know he is a ported man. i like sealed boxes because they roll off at 12 db have a more natural sound and handle lots of power. but a well designed ported box will play louder and lower with less power than any sealed box. no argument here. my point was geared more towards sound quality and ease of construction. sux2bu as stated earlier, i built my car for my enjoyment, not for anyone eles, a good freind of mine convinced me to compete this year so thats why i am doing it, as far as the sound quality, issue goes in my car, its like goaltending. if i didnt think that i was the best at my position i would never have played major jr. even though i was far from the best goalie, i believed i was, and that got me far. i damn well know my car isent even close to some of the sound quality cars out there but i have to be believe in what i have and what i have done, for its all i have. if you dont believe in GOD your friends and yourself all thats left is exitsentalism.
