Which setup to go with

Hey guys just a question here i am thinking about putting some serious bass in my 07 chrysler 300 just curios what you guys think. i want to run a kicker zx 2500.1 and either a kicker solox 12 or 18 which one should i go with. i want something that hits hard. i know i am under powering the 18 nad the 12 is a perfect match for that amp so what do you guys think i should do. also what kind of electrical upgrade would i need. do i need a second battery to run this amp. i also have a kicker zx850.4 for my speakers. please let me know what you guys think since you guys have more experience than me.

Thanks

Second batt, Big Three, possibly a bigger alt depending on what the factory alt's output is. I'm almost willing to say a higher powered alt will be needed for dd use. The trunks in the 300's are fairly big, but are you willing to lose all that space to fit your batt, amp, and properly built 18" box in there? A 12 would be more practical, but practicality does tend to be an afterthought in this hobby... Just figured it might be worth mentioning here

Agreed,

the 18" takes a ton of box space. Mine is loving 10+ cubes. It also needs much more than 2500 watts to get going. I'd go with the 12" in there with a proper box.

Lights will dim, alternator will fail over time, that's even if the amp does anything other than turn on

How about a 15 with about 500-1000 watts and a 2.5-3 cube box? Your oem alt is good for 160 amps, so you'll be fine unless you drive around with it maxed out constantly, and you'll get plenty of bass.

well i have 2 kicker l5's 12" with a hifonics 1500watts rms amp pushing it at 2ohm stable and i want something louder i also have a orion 500.4 pushing my type x components and cliff design components and my alternator seems to be running fine. now i ordered a kicker zx850.4 because my orion is messing up now and if i switch my amp to the 2500.1 it will make that much of a difference for my alternator?

@piggie, again, it depends on the alternator capabilities and the quality/number of batteries. Just because it works for one, doesn't mean it works for many, unfortunatly

well from what i remember about that car. the batt is in the trunk. i would try and fit the other on under the hood. as for alt if its not a hemi engine inside then its a weak alt. i would get a 200 amp custom built.
