shallow mount subs?

Just because an amp can run at 1 Ohm or 2 Ohm.......doesn't make the amp or system louder.
You should buy your amplifiers and subwoofers almost at the same time.....so that you know they will work together properly.
Dont try and run your system at 1 ohm just because someone said it would be louder.....its fine if its designed to work that way.....but get some proper advise from a reputable store.....rather than someone who says 1 ohm is louder.
A lot of systems are real loud at 4 oHms........it just depends on the set up.
Here is a message I got from someone who has an Exile amp and loves it....
hey man, just wondering if you have some sort of affiliation with exile or have a shop that sells them?
i currently have a x1200.1 and love it, just looking for some place that has experience with them that i could ask a few questions and maybe pick up another x1200.1 and a component amp as well (x800.4?)
let me know

I don't think that anyone has suggested that 1ohm is louder.
It will be dependant on the amplifier as to what single or dual voice coils you want to run.
With that being said... if you have an amplifier that makes 750wrms at 4ohms or 1000wrms at 2 ohms you would likely want to purchase subs that can be wired to that 2ohm load because in that case it would be louder.
A decent package would a pair of 4ohm svc Kicker CVT's wired to a 2ohm load powered by an Alpine MRDM850 (800wrms @ 2ohm). Or else a single 2ohm CVT powered by an Alpine MRPM450, Kicker ZX400.1 (400wrms @ 2ohm)etc...
If you want more details then PM me and I can set you up with someone in your neck of the woods.

I am very impressed with these subs. Hands down destroyed the JL, Pioneer, Earthquake and Rockford flat subs. In a similar test from the same amp.

I think (I could be wrong) that the Rockfords are the only DVC flat subs. They are sold as a shallow sub. Perfect for truck boxes.

Earthquake SWS series at www.earthquakesound.com. They have twice the excursion of every woofer listed on this thread. The 10 inch is 1.75 inches of throw! With 2.25 inches of mounting depth and is .3-.5 cuft...that over x 4 the poineer and x 3 the kicker and x 4 the Sony...the rip shi*t up...the 10 inch is $200 retail as well.

Kevin,
I thought so myself and didn't believe the kid until he brought it in and showed me. I just about started arguing with him but held my tongue because I wasn't totally sure.
He purchased his sub online from the US. It looked like a super shallow P3.
We swapped it out of his sealed truck rider and reloaded it (and the other subs) into a Bassworx TP10B (ported truck rider) and ran each sub off of the Kicker ZX1000.1 mono block. Each was done at different days not against each other but against the CVT.
Don't get me wrong. None of the subs sounded bad at all. Quite good for the application they were built for actually but the CVT's had the edge if louder bass was your goal.
I know that the enclosure was not the best for each sub but it was the closest way we could have a mini comparison. We did not test in a vehicle or on a meter. All testing was done in store off the board and by ear. Not the most scientific way but each customer agreed to the results and were impressed.
Although none of them returned the gear they already purchased to get the CVT's instead.
