Shallow Mounting Pioneer Subs

I have 2 RE10's in my truck right now and I am looking at buying some Shallow mounting Pioneer 12" subs(TS-SW124D). The RE10's are in a sealed box right now and I'm pretty happy with the sound but My seat won't go all the way back. Will two of these 12's be as good or better then my RE10's. I have a 400 watt amp. I can't see these subs sounding as good as a regular sub but the space is important to me. Can anyone help me out?

well...i have a reg. cab. chevy truck and i have a box that will fit 2 12" rockford fosgate punch HX2's..they have almost a 6" mounting depth....its made out of 1" MDF and it fits fine behind my seat...i am 6'1" tall and i have enough room for my legs comfortably....just to put in my 2 cents worth

Blaupunkt also makes a shallow depth sub called Overdrive, if your looking for another option.
All three (blau,pio,re) will probably sound somewhat different from each other, but I think you could make all of them sound good. Compare the specs of each.

Put those specs up to your ear and tell me how they sound. [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img] They can all sound either good or bad depending on the box and how it functions in the vehicle. Add Planet Audio to the lsit of shallow mount subs as well. No matter what it seems that you are going to be building another box anyways. As long as the air volume is correct for the type of enclosure the subs need, all should be well.

What is the max mounting depth available to you?
My experience with the shallow mount subs has been that there is a bit of a sacrifice of SQ for SPL. The Pioneers will work well in a .6 to .8 ft sealed box, and handle a fair bit of power....What kind of amp do you use to get 400 watts?

Sorry I didn't post more details the first time. I have a 91 Jeep Comanche truck and the reason I need a shallow sub is that I want to mount the amp between the subs and the amp takes up quite abit of space. The box I have now is a poorly built sealed box. The specs for the pioneers subs I'm looking at are here Subs Specs
The specs for my HK-102SX amp are:
2 x 75W RMS @ 4 Ohm Stereo
2 x 125W RMS @ 2 Ohm Stereo
2 x 175W RMS @ 1 Ohm Stereo
2 x 300W RMS @ 0.5 Ohm Stereo
1 x 400W RMS @ 1 Ohm Bridged
The reason I'm asking about these subs is because I can get a good price on them. I want to use as little space behind my seat as possible. I was wonder how 1 of these pioneer 12's would sound in a properly built ported box compared to my 2 RE10's in a the ****ty sealed box i have right now.
