USPS is the best way to go usually.
You shouldn't have to pay much on fee's for a $100 item.

USPS is easy and the least expensive

Last time I used USPS for a Canada shipment they stole a $5 money order out of the package that was properly made out to the intended person!

And with everyone saying to buy local. How do you know he's not getting a used sub that wouldn't be available locally?

Don't just assume that he's going with e-bay and trying to screw his local retailers.

O.k first of all, where the guy wants to buy is his business. secondly, maybe the particular product is not available locally. Thirdly, his question was( please read it). I buy a lot from the states and always use usps as canada post only charges 5.00 for brokerage and you have to pay gst/pst on any amount over 20.00 cdn even if it's a gift. Trust me I have checked into it thoroughly. You may also have to pay duty( unknown amount based on country of origin and whether or not Canada has a trade agreement with said country), If it was manufactured in the u.s there is no duty. From personal experience as long as it says "car stereo"on the shipping bill they don't charge extra duty.Also make sure the seller does not over estimate value for insurance as customs will use this to determine taxes. By the way I shop a lot locally, it's just that some things are not available here or are more than twice the shipped cost.

I have a box in the states. Everytime I drive my car across the line all the police come out of the building and make me demo the system for them. They love the ****! Every single time!
On the way back they've never made me pay for duty. :D

Yea I have to agree... If you go UPS or fedex and use a high end service brokerage is included and all you pay is vat tax (AKA duty) (regular pst+gst for most electronics)

If you go ground or whatever brokerage is usually $35-45 and then you pay your %15 on top of that...

USPS air mail is definatly the best bang for your buck... Its about the same price as the others ground service in about the same time and you only pay $5 or $8(EMS) in brokerage....


-If the package is marked as being a gift you pay tax on the declarded value less $60- (can save you up to $9 waa-whoo!!)

If the declared value is under $20 you pay no tax and usually no brokerage.. (but thats at a risk if you paid more then $20!)

If the iteam is listed as being a warranty replacement or something along those lines the same applies but the package still carries insurance for whatever its worth... !! (cant tell you if this is risky or not)
