Should I be getting back into Car Audio?
#1
It appears that I've been posting on this board again. I've been telling myself for the past 8 months that I was just going to leave my system the way it is and sell most of it and maybe resort to a cheapy low-end system. I've gotten back into home audio (original passion)and even built cables for local store to just get my mind off car audio for a bit. It was working... got rid of a lot of gear that I don't need, got a motorcycle (so no audio to be concerned about - though I want to put a system on it for the heck of it).
Anyhow, now that I'm back in school and have to endure the commute, the audio has become an integral part of keeping me awake. I've carpooled many times and to be honest, I don't think I could ever live with a stock system or something non-sq conscious. I guess my love for sonic purity has somewhat screwed me - I hate spending money on highend gear because its expensive! After seeing that post for that rockford/denon deck, I realised how much I needed something up-to-date (been looking for a c90 for 2 years with no luck). After the purchase, I find myself coming up with different system ideas - how can I arrange things differently to achieve better soundstaging, imaging, cable configurations... etc.

It's a great hobby, and a passion... should I get back into again?

I knew you would be back, just a matter of time... This hobby will always get u in the end, easiest thing to do is just to give in to it, that is the only path to peace and enlightnment.
Seriously though it's good to have you back Eddie.
You are so right about the way we become "ruined for life", in a good way. It's like once you've had good champagne it's hard to go back to grape juice.
Most people just never realize how quality sound can enrich your everyday enjoyment of life....But once you know, how do you back!?!

If budgeting worries you, try to prove what everyone always says, that 'its all in the install'
I'd say as long as you are reasonably bored, and ergo you have enough time to spend doing a hobby of some sort, that car audio is definitely a fun thing to get into (but then, you knew that already)

Once bitten, you're basically screwed. So don't even try to resist it. Resistance is futile...........
You should drop me a line and let me know what you're doing on the home front. I'm in the middle of a HT rebuild at my house. Also planning on DIY-ing a few power cables and power to the panel for the system. Bit of a retrofit as when we finished the basement, HT was really part of the planning process electrically.
