Single 12 setup

hey guys, Well I am looking to run a Single 12 setup in my 1994 Cavalier, I was thinking maybe going with a small/medium ported something like 2.25cuft most I can do is 2.50cuft ported to 30hz or so. I have 400watts Rms @4ohms on hand or 800watts Rms@2ohms, brands I have been looking at are: Pioneer Premier, Kicker Cvr, Mach 5 Audio 12-Maw, ED 13kv, Kenwood KFC-W3011 and Jl Audio 12W1, for fronts I am currently running PG Rsd Components and am looking for a sub that has great Sq as well as some decent output and will blend with the front range. I am very open to suggestions and budget is around $150.00Cad to $230.00Cad I am open to buying online used or new.

Thank you
Justin

Well as good as the Mach 5 subs are they will blow up with 800Wrms. The CVR in a dual 2ohm would give you 400Wrms which would be fine but I would locate a dual 4ohm sub around 600-1000Wrms and that should work for ya.

okay thanks Steve. any suggestions for subwoofers that you think are decent for a single setup? I do want Sq but also want some decent output. therefore I think a ported box tuned low should work or even a large sealed box.

how about a JL 12w6v2? its a SQ sub and specs say it wants 400w rms, would need to find a used one though if your budget is $230 tops

For SQ I've heard Image Dynamics is great.

Something like an IDMAX12D4 V.3 ( thats 12" dual 4ohm vc), recomended power 200 - 1000W.

Or IDQ12D4 V.2 , recomended power 100 - 500W.

I'm considering getting an IDMAX 12 incher and putting it in a sealed enclosure.

You could get an Alpine type R for that price if you shop around, and much less if you Ebay it.

I've got a Type R and it cost me under $130.
Mine easily takes 800W RMS from my Fosgate 750S daily.
Look for the dual 4 ohm version and wire it in parallel for 2 ohms total.
