I am still waiting for my Mmats 1400.5 and dont think it is coming. So I need something else to power my Juggernaut 15.
I came across the sledgehammer by accident qnd the specs were acceptable, just needed someone with hands on.
Thanks

Well let me say that that I am a fool (if not the only one) that put the SH-1 on an Atomic Quantum 12 (DVC 1) wired to 0.5 ohm. This amp is designed to run at 2 ohm and it can go lower for VERY short periods of time. At IASCA finals I couldn’t get my truck to hit its usual number and was sitting in 5th place. In a last ditch attempt to improve my score from its 148 and get it back to its usual 152 I wired the sub in parallel. I played the sub at moderate levels for about a minute or two to increase the DCR so as to not blow the amp. When I went into the lane, the only thing that let go was the sub… I crunched the coil former and locked the cone up solid. The amp… is fine.
**Side note - I only gained 0.4 dB going from 2ohm to 0.5 ohm.**
As to the performance of this amp… I don’t see it being in the same class as the amps it was compared to… First off the D2 is a mini powerhouse, but it is also a distortion factory… at 2/3 rated power it produces >5% THD… now how can that compare really? As to the Riprock… yeah it’s a great amp and I have had the chance to play with one of these… Not bad for an off the shelf house brand (basically the same as a Crossfire VR2000). Again not in the same class… I believe that that the D2 and the Riprock 500d (S.O.B. what ever its nickname is) might be able to produce more power in a typical street setup, but with proper power behind it you will need multiple amps to compare… I’ve achieved peak performance from this amp with a solid 14v electrical system (two Odyssey 1700 and a 200 amp alternator) with a 2v signal in. Just a the point of clipping.
Then there is the dampening factor and low distortion. Neither of the above amps can even compare when it comes to wide open power. The SH-1 has amazing control over the subs movement and coils couldn’t be happier with the clean power… I have yet to see a monster amp pound a sub into submission and then when torn apart (due to suspension failure most commonly) the coils still look brand new… go figure…
For the record I use two SH-1 in my truck, my buddy owns four Riprocks, and a fellow competitor has two D2’s…All are good amps… But from what I’ve seen from I’m not swapping out... PERIOD.
