Small single sub boxes sound question

Hello everyone. What do these prefab sealed single 10 or 12" boxes sound like? Do they sound decent? I'm not looking to win any contests, I just want to feel some bass. I just pieced together a budget setup with a used JBL P80.4 (weak amp, btw), and a bandpass box with a couple of Kenwood 12's. On sub bass the box sounds pretty good, but it has like a 10Hz frequency response! I can turn on some rock and it sounds like I don't even have a sub, then I put in some rap and you can hear it. I think it sucks, it's not natural at all. I think I would be happier with a sealed box, but are these tiny prefab boxes any good? I'm from the old school (Punch 45 era), and just getting back into car audio. In my day, a sub in a box that small wouldn't have done anything. I'm guessing with new technology they can get bass from smaller enclosures? I'd definitely like to reclaim some trunk space and run a single sub but still have same natural sounding bass that still pounds.

Decent 12s need anywhere from 0.5-2 cubic feet, each to hit "recommended" sizes.

10s can be anywhere from 0.25-1.5 cubes.

Prefab boxes are ok, you can Always make something better later

prefab boxes are well priced, easy to instll subs in, and come ready to go.....
i also like the sound from a basic prefab box sure a higher end prefab box will sound better or you could spend a weened fabricating your own box to specific specs but if your not interested in competions or anyhting like that then a small prefab box wll sound just fine.
