Alright folks, it me again. I know how much everyone loves to hear from me.

As some of you may know, CCA has somewhat gone downhill in the last few months. This is no supprise as we decided to let the reigns go on the board to see what would happen. We took the feedback from our members that the board was run in to strict of fasion. Well, now we are seeing the effects of a poorly moderated board.

So, whats going to happen? Things are going to be getting scaled back to where they were. What does this mean? Well, a number of things. More threads will be closed/deleted at the mods discretion, unruley members will be given 1 and only 1 warning and then asked to leave. If the behavior continues, they will be banned. End of story. Considering in the history of CCA we have only actually banned like 2-3 people, I don't feel we will have to go that far.

We still feel that the members have alot of flexability with their accounts. They still have control over their user name, avatar image and so on. Everything in your profile is still going to pretty much remain. We will still have the right to delete anything we find derogetory. I would like to see the avatar images return back to a personal image and not one of their car, stereo, dog...etc.

Hopefully this will help clean up the board up and get things back to the way they were. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to pm or email any of the mods. My email is Fat_Whacker@canadiancaraudio.com

Here, here...

Father Yuli 04-01-2004 08:31 PM

one thing - in the time when u guys 'let the board go' RoughDude still delete the post in which i was trying to gather some feedback in the Donut Section of the forum. If that post had been moved to the Mod section of the forum and it still exists can u please put it back into the off topic section. There was nothing wrong with the post, no one tried to cut anybody else or anytning yet it still got tooken down. I could really use some of the positive feedback that was in there when dealing with ppl over the internet.

ZachCHartwell 04-01-2004 08:36 PM

I fully agree with what you moderators are doing. I only wish Sounddomain would have done the same.

A forum with good will always be better than a forum with lax rules.

"images return back to a personal image" meaing that u want me to post a pic of my self ...?

Tim Baillie. 04-01-2004 09:41 PM

Life will return to normal now

You don't have to have a avatar, but if you do it has to be of yourself (ahem, Tim).

OldOneEye 04-01-2004 09:44 PM

Zach,
I honestly think that the size of the forum has alot more to do with it than the rules itself. There is really only so much you can do with off the shelf software, and some forum members who insist on acting the way they do. Ban them, they come back. Ban their IP, they change it. When I'm not busy, people who act up get banned, and then their posts get pruned. But I've been tied up as have some of the other guys who normally help out on the Admin side of things.

For the most part, I hang spend more time on CarSound.com forum than Sounddomain's forum.

Is that you Snowboarding?

Peter Barry 04-01-2004 10:17 PM

Yes it is me snowboarding.

Tinted, unfortunatly last week when the board was down for a while, we had some hosting issues. Somthing was causing a loop where it was taking up way too much bandwidth. We had to basically delete alot of the old posts on the board. Depending on how the mod deleted it, it might be gone forever or it might still be around. I will check.
But this will be the type of thing I don't want to hear bitching about. If we decide to nuke a thread, it will be done for a reason.

Thank you for all the time and effort you mods put in to this board. Keep up the good work. This board has been a god send to this newbie.

I welcome the new/old rules again!

Tinted - that was me. I was actually alerted to the feedback post by a friend of yours and rather than delete specific posts and edit a bunch of others I chose to nuke it.

Really - don't take it as an offence. Of the 10 or so posts that were in it only two were positive feedback for you (the rest was not bad feedback but rather bickering). Start it up again and I am sure the couple guys that posted will be more than happy to post again Fair enough?

I for one will welcome a reigning in of the silly nicknames and crazy flaming. Lets have fun kids!

MR2NR 04-02-2004 12:10 AM

What silly nicknames?

Paul Niwranski 04-02-2004 12:18 AM

Peter, your such a nazi!

When r u comin to Smithers?

CaptDeth 04-02-2004 04:50 AM

I believe Tinted was talking about one that was in the Donut Shop, not feedback. I can understand why the feedback one was nuked...what a joke that became.

The post he had in the Donut Shop had 10-20 really good feedback posts on him.

As for the forum getting back to normal? I just hope it happens. I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself.

I used to moderate Sounddomain along with you. The lack of effective control was the reason I believe Sounddomain went to hell. A forum no mattter what size can be civil, it all depends on the extent of free reign the users have.
