FYI, Brokerage fees have pretty much nothing to do with the seller, those are primarily from the shipping company.

UPS and Fed Ex both charge fairly heavy brokerage fees, even though it doesn't cost them any more than USPS/Canada Post.

Duty is levied on the shipped value by the government, so unless you are buying used or the seller is filling it out incorrectly, the duty will be a percentage of sale price. I can't remember how much it is on electronics, but usually they charge GST plus some more.

I have not dealt with sonicelectronix, but everything I have heard says theyre pretty reputable.
They do sell on ebay, so you might want to check their feedback on there.
One thing in sonics favor is that they DO have a shipping calculator on their site, so you can check shipping prices without having to guess or ask on a forum.

I have dealt with Sonic a few times, the first time was just an "ok" expereince but when I ordered again they made it right and defintly won me over! however the fact its from the states, and the way the border has been lately, Id sooner go to a local store for just about anything!!

Read up on them on cardomain, lots of horror stories.

I've bought from hooked on tronics and from online car stereo.
ALL 4 times, i came out way, way, way ahead even after exchange, broker, customs, shipping. I spent about 2000, which would have cost me 3000 PLUS TAX locally.

The site vendors will delete my post (or my account) because they don't want you to know

Only the staff can delete your posts, not vendors.

Obviously we are all for people supporting the Vendors of the site and Canadian business. We cant stop people from shopping US, but some of us believe there is more to be gained dealing with someone with experience and knowing they will go out of their way to help.

Fed Ex and UPS will charge you about $ 40, Canada post however, will only charge you $ 5 if you have it shipped via ground.

At least that what they charged me when I ordered stuff a few years back...
