Soundstream or JL Audio?
#1
I have recently sold my old Tube driver amps and am looking for something to fill the empty space in my trunk. I've narrowed it down to either JL Audio or Soundstream. In one corner we have the JL Audio Slash Series 300/2 and 300/4 weighing in at 600W and $600.00 US. In the other corner we have the Soundstream Van Gogh Series VGA600.2 and VGA500.4 weighing in at 1100W and $430.00 US. I realize the JL is probably the better amp. However, with only about $600.00 US to spend I could pick up the Soundstreams and a new deck (long overdue!). What should I do?

IMO the JL's are overpriced for what they are.
Although I'm not a big fan of the current SS products either, apparantly the Van Gogh's are still using decent internals and are good performers.
Lot's of great choices out there for $600usd.
Depends on how much power/channels you need.

Actually they're great pieces and I'm not disappointed I went with them at all. They're all underrated, sound excellent, and reliability is top notch. No silly gimmicks with them either which is nice.
Simple understated looking amplifier with no useless gimmicks. If I had any complaints regarding them I would have switched them out long ago.
They do everything great at a very attractive price. What more can I say?
