Does anyone know of a good place to get a midrange woofer repaired? The spider just came unglued from the cone, and I think that's all that needs fixing. It's a JL XR midrange, so I can't take it to the dealer. Thanks.

There are plenty of shops in Toronto, yellow pages. HOWEVER, I spoke to A JL rep in Florida a few weeks ago, and he mentioned that they use E6000 glue for repairs when they need a repair adhesive that will not damage speakers. You can't buy this at homedepot, but it is avaiable at craft stores like Michaels (call local craft stores in your area). You could call JL at
954) 443-1100 to confirm with a tech rep.

I might just. Though I'm weary of regluing the spider myself. I've never even seen it done before, let alone had practice.

E6000 is typically used for repairing loose dust caps. The real glue that is used is considewred hazardous to ship so we recommend E6000 for simple repairs. As for the spider on your XR its going to be tough to reglue it because of the small openings in the spider that give you access to the spider. If you have the bill of sale, send it in and we'll replace it.

just to make things clear, i do believe dave meant small openings in the basket, not "small openings in the spider".
