dry cell technology is far from new, its been out for like the last 5 years. whoever is feeding you the info about the battery is either stupid or lying.

I'm pretty sure I have that pamphlet about it still in my car. I'll have to find it.

Man oh man... I really hate this stereo shop here in Calgary called
"Soundsaround" those guys are frickin' sharks... holy crap... man I was insulted leaving there. Im never going back. All they had was ridiculously overpriced crap. Like $300 for a 4 gauge wiring kit.... like F-off.

So Im assuming that the optimas are better still then?

Meh... depends on which battery you are buying.

The Stinger is just s rebadged Hawker... and they've been tested to be very comparable to the Optimas.

Which one is better? Depends on who you ask

btw, he said it could put out 3500 amps in short bursts... I was thinking... man this guy is an idiot.... does he even know how much power 3500 amps is? you can power a sky-scraper building with that kind of amperage...

like 3500 amps from those little battery terminals... I dont think so pal....

But is the ESR rating really better then that of a power cap like he says it is? or is that also a load of BS?

most of the soundsaround salesmen have no idea what their talking about. $200 for the battery isn't a bad deal if its the same as an Optima.
I have pretty good luck with Soundsaround Crowfoot... but I also know all the salesmen there and have been going there for years.

It all depends on the time interval... a good battery can produce upwards of 800-1000amps of current for a second with less then 1v drop.... if we are looking at dynamic ability it may be for a period for less then that..... ie 3500 amps for 1/3 of a second is believable...

As far as having ESR less then a cap... wouldn't doubt if it was lower then a multifarad carbon cap... but less then a 1F can style electrolytic, I doubt it...
