if you go sealed, as I did with this system, just use the Alpine specs...0.85 cubes each gross internal volume (total volume including sub displacement). Sounds really good with all types of music, very clean and tight bass, and it gets plenty loud with 1200 watts. The added bonus is the box is easy to build. I wanted a slightly lower resonant frequency, so I added 2lbs of polyfill to the box, and that makes the box a virtual volume of just over 1 cube each.

Okay great, so after I try and get more money from my insurance company (lo-balling me for my stolen eqp_, i'll be ordering 2x 12" alpine type R's (4ohm) and I **think** that Hifonics amp, unless someone knows of something a little cheaper that will give me more or less the same ressult (Any suggestions?)

Box, got a great design for with the help of a freind - Designing to to look very flush in my trunk, so it won't even look like I have a subbox in there, and make it look just like a "small trunk" (using OEM carpet to wrap the box)

As far as deck goes, I think i'm going to go with a "KENWOOD KDC-MP538U"
(NEW KENWOOD KDC-MP538U CD MP3 CAR STEREO+AUX+USB PLAYER - eBay (item 290238555844 end time Jun-19-08 22:47:55 PDT))
Love the look of it (very sleek and semetrical), and its specs look good enough for what i'm doing.

Thanks guys for helping me (again) with picking my things out...and again, does anyone else have a (cheaper) suggestion for an amp that will give about the same power as that hifonics one? If not thats okay, just seeing if theres any alternatives anyone would suggest.

Doc

That Hifonics is about the best watts/dollar I've seen...brand new! That Kenwood deck is sweet by the way, nice and simple. When you're done, take some photos and post them.

Well, turns out I can't quite cut it for the type r's - the amount of money i'm getting from insurance isnt enough and a little extra I wouldnt mind paying, but I also gotta pay my deductable...

So just looking for something similar - I found some Kenwood KFC-W3011

2 KENWOOD KFC-W3011 12" SUBWOOFERS +SPIN GRILL*NEW PAIR - eBay (item 120272767394 end time Jun-20-08 13:17:50 PDT)

SPECIFICATIONS

* Speaker : 300mm / 12"
* Injection PP Cone 1,780g (62.7 oz) Magnet
* Peak Power : 1200 Watts
* Maximum Continuous Power : 800 Watts
* Rated Power : 400 Watts
* Frequency Response : 25Hz~800Hz
* Sensitivity : 90dB / W at 1m
* Impedance : 4-Ohms
* Mounting Depth : 6-11/16"

Seems like it will go good with that amp, and both of them are only 79$, and 79$ shipping. Seems good...maybe another suggestion?

Those Kenwood subs are not even in the same league "performance wise" to the type R's, and they are single 4ohm voice coils. That leaves you with a 2ohm final load to your amp which means you will get about half of the performance then you would have had with a 1ohm load. I would keep looking for something with dual voice coils once again.
