hey im new and im looking to buy two 10' subs and either a 2 channel amp or a mono for each.

i own a 93 mustang coupe so the subs will be in the trunk. i listen to rap music and a little bit of country and some rock. i want a system that will hit hard and sound great. I was originally going to go the Alpine Type R's but not sure if thats the best idea.

for the headunit, i have a Alpine CDA-9857 and i have two Alpine 6x9s in the back and two 4' jbls in the door.

Im looking to spend under 250 a peice for the subs and under 500 for the amp..Suggestions on companies and models?

I like Rockford but only the power stuff, so thats out of your price range unless you want used off E-bay. Look for sales, I am not sure if we can give out names of compay's that are having good sales right now, just join. For amps @$500 you have many to pick from but I am unsure what I would get. I stay away from Sony, Kicker amps are good but $$$, not sure but look for sales on some name brand stuff.

the only thing sony does well are decks and by well i mean not great lol
i regret buying my sony deck, but it was 215 and has options some decks twice its price dont, and it is motorized which i think is a nice feture.

2 years ago I recall many saying that Sony stinks, now in light of all these recalls they been having-battery's, cameras-I think they were right on.

how are JL audio subs? and how about the type R alpines.

Are the new kenwood amps good and how about fosgate amps? and is Boss a company to stay away from?

Staying within your budget, JL has re-introduced a couple of their old model #'s, updated for the new generation. If you can audition a couple of the 10 or 12W1-8s in a proper ported box at a store near you, it will be worth the time. The price in Ontario is well under $200 each for the 12s and for $500 you should be able to buy all the amp those subs can handle.....

If you know your way around the used equipment market, you might be able to do better in the "For Sale" section here, and of course the vendors here can put a package together for you as well if you would prefer to buy new.

One other thing I would suggest is putting some of your $$ into upgrading those front door speakers. 4" drivers are simply not large enough to give you anything in the way of midbass, and the lack of midbass will be hard for any sub system to compensate for.

i got a sub box built for tens and im pritty confined..gotta fit in trunk of a mustang which is tiny..and the box fits perfect so i dont wanna try and change everything..
