Hi!

Well I have all my components together except for the sub, here's what I have:

1. Alpine CDA-9831 Head Unit
2. HiFonics ZX8000 5Ch.Amp, 50W/Ch x 4 & 200W x 1
3. Kicker EX6.2 6 1/2 Components for the front doors
4. Kicker K60 6 1/2" Coaxials for the rears

With regards to the components, I think the best placement for the tweeters is in the top part of the door. That way they will actually be near the dash, almost at head level (being van doors); thoughts?
Any suggestions on a good, tight sub to use to complete my system (I like listening to more of the 80's and early 90's type rock and pop music)
I'd like something that gives good accurate bass (not as much boominess)

Thanks!

Paul

since you're going with all kicker speakers, why not get a kicker L7 12"?

What is your sub budget? If you have the money, I don't think you can do better than a RE XXX, as long as you have enough power to feed it.

im assuming that he would be using the sub channel on that 5 channel amp, so i dont think that would be sufficient power for a XXX.

Sorry, didn't see that.
In that case, just go out and listen to some subs if you can that require 200w RMS, and choose the one you like best. Most of it is opinion if you like a sub or not. There is no one end all be all sub that is right for every application.

Image Dynamics IDQ 12 for a great sounding driver that will not break the bank. What is your price point?

Thanks for the replies!
Yes, the 5th channel (200W RMS) on the amp will be powering the sub.
My budget is around $200.00 or so
As mentioned, I like more of a 'tight' bass for what I listen to (80's rock/pop like Def Leopard, Genesis, etc.) I have a paradigm PDC10 at home and find it very 'musical' in comparison to other ones I've auditioned, not boomy at all.
I guess I'll have to go and do some more investigating/listening in my area.
Any good car audio shops in the Etobicoke/Mississauga area?

Subs worth considering that match your criteria:

MTX Road Thunder
Kicker Solo round OR Comp series (not L7)
JL W0
Infinity Kappa

Get a single 10" and put it in a ported box of recommended size. It should make you happy.
